Weighted Crossfading Mixer

This device is at the core, a 2 input 7 output crossfading mixer, with each output a differently weighted combination of the 2 inputs. The center output is a 50/50 blend of the inputs and each output above and below is weighted more towards the corresponding input.

Uses

While this module can be used to mix any signals, it was designed around the idea of mixing modulation signals to get many related modulation sources from relatively fewer inputs. In the images below you can see the way that the the outputs each represent a sort of morph point between the two input signals. When they are overlayed it is easy to see how they relate to each other.

These signals provide an easy way to get related movement in a patch without having a plethora of modulation sources at your disposal. In my performance case I use outputs to do things like selecting which percussion samples will play in my drum sampler, select when to allow signal into my effects and modulate the pulsewidth of my bass voice.

Normalling

The top input is normalled to 6V and the bottom input is normalled to ground so that with nothing else patched it can be used as an octave reference voltage.

Since the bottom input is normalled to ground, by placing an LFO signal in the top input we are able to get 6 copies of equally spaced attenuation out. If this signal is instead applied to the bottom input, with the top normalled to 6 Volts, each output above it becomes a copy of the input signal but it's crossover becomes further and further distorted towards 6 Volts as the number of the output goes up. essentially moving the zero point of the waveform up. There are many exeperimental possibilities to be explored.
